This policy explains what information CalcBloc collects when you use the site, how it is used, and the choices you have. In short: we don't ask for your name, account details or tax identifiers, your calculator inputs are not stored in a database, and we don't sell personal information.
Who we are
CalcBloc ("we", "us") operates the website calcbloc.com, which offers free paycheck and tax calculators and guides. You can reach us about privacy at [email protected].
Calculator inputs
Calculations run in your browser. When you change an input, such as your salary or state, the page updates without sending a form to us.
To let you bookmark or share a result, your inputs are written into the page address (the URL), for example as a salary and state code. That has a few consequences you should know about:
- Anyone you share the link with can see those inputs and the result.
- When you open or share such a link, our servers receive the address in order to show the page and a preview image of the result, as with any web request.
- Web addresses can be recorded in your browser history and, like any request, in standard server logs.
We do not link calculator inputs to your identity, and we do not ask for names, employers, Social Security numbers or bank details. Please don't put personal information into any field.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information about requests to the site, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
Region detection. Our server reads the country your request comes from, as reported by our hosting provider, to decide whether to show a cookie consent banner. It stores the result as a cookie named cb_region with the value "eu" or "other" for about 30 days. It does not store your precise location.
Analytics. If enabled, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are visited and which calculators are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology and receives information such as your IP address, device and browser details and the pages you view. We use this information in aggregate to improve the site. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies and consent
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cb_region | CalcBloc | Remembers whether to show the consent banner | About 30 days |
cb-consent (stored in your browser's local storage) | CalcBloc | Remembers your cookie choice | Until you clear your browser data |
Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga) | Google, if analytics is enabled and allowed | Measures site usage | Set by Google |
Visitors in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland see a banner asking whether to accept non-essential cookies. Until you accept, analytics and advertising storage stay off. You can change your choice by clearing the site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back.
Other visitors. For visitors in the United States, analytics cookies are on by default and advertising storage is off. For visitors elsewhere, analytics storage is off by default. When analytics storage is off, Google's consent mode may still send limited measurement signals without cookies.
Advertising. The site does not currently show ads. If we add advertising in the future, ad partners may use cookies to show and measure ads. Before that happens we will update this policy, and visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a consent management platform before any advertising cookies are set.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators work without cookies.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, maintain and secure the site;
- understand how the site is used and improve it;
- respond to messages you send us;
- comply with legal obligations.
Sharing
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising without consent where consent is required. We share information only with:
- service providers that run the site for us, such as our hosting provider and, if enabled, Google Analytics;
- future advertising partners, only as described above;
- authorities, if required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to reply and to fix any problem you report, and we don't add you to a mailing list.
Retention
We keep emails for as long as needed to handle your message and keep a record of corrections. Server logs and analytics data are kept for the periods set by our hosting and analytics providers.
Your choices and rights
You can use the site without giving us any personal information. You can refuse or withdraw consent for non-essential cookies, block cookies in your browser and use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email [email protected].
Children
CalcBloc is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, for example before enabling advertising, and change the date at the top of the page.
