Idaho paycheck calculator
Idaho taxes income at one flat rate, and its withholding is simple: your employer withholds that rate on pay above a threshold tied to the federal standard deduction. In July 2026 the Tax Commission revised the tables because the Idaho Child Tax Credit ended, so Idaho W-4 allowances no longer reduce what is withheld.

How Idaho withholds income tax
Employers use the Tax Commission's percentage computation tables. There are two columns, one for single filers (which includes heads of household) and one for married filers. Pay up to the threshold for the pay period has no withholding; everything above it is withheld at the flat rate and rounded to the nearest whole dollar.
Idaho wages follow federal taxable wages, so traditional 401(k) contributions, HSA contributions through a cafeteria plan and pre-tax health premiums lower your Idaho withholding too.
The 2026 table change: Idaho Child Tax Credit ended
Allowances on Form ID W-4 used to reduce withholding because each one stood for the Idaho Child Tax Credit. That credit has sunset under Idaho Code section 63-3029L, so the allowance amount is now zero. Parents may see slightly more Idaho tax withheld than before.
The revised tables apply going forward from their July 2026 release; employers do not have to go back and fix earlier paychecks. This calculator uses the revised tables for the whole year.
Bonuses and local taxes
For bonuses, commissions, overtime paid separately and similar payments, an employer can either add the payment to regular wages or withhold the flat rate on the separate payment.
Idaho cities and counties do not tax wages, so where you live inside the state does not change your paycheck.

Questions people ask
What is the Idaho income tax rate for 2026?
Idaho's individual income tax rate is a flat 5.3%, the rate in effect since January 1, 2025.
Do Idaho W-4 allowances still lower my withholding?
No. Allowances on Form ID W-4 were tied to the Idaho Child Tax Credit, which has ended. Under the July 2026 tables each allowance is worth $0.
How much Idaho tax is withheld from a bonus?
If the bonus is paid separately, your employer can withhold a flat 5.3%. Otherwise it is added to your regular pay and withheld using the tables.

Do Idaho cities have an income tax?
No. Boise and other Idaho cities and counties do not tax wages.
