How it's calculated

Take-home pay in Singapore is your salary less your own CPF contributions and income tax. Citizens and permanent residents (from their third year) pay CPF on ordinary wages up to $8,000 a month in 2026, at rates set by age.CPF Board Income tax for 2026 is assessed in YA 2027 on chargeable income: income less Earned Income Relief and CPF relief, taxed at the resident rates from 0% to 24%.IRAS

The formula

Your CPF = 20% × min(monthly salary, $8,000) each month (55 and below; lower rates at older ages), plus CPF on bonuses up to the $102,000 annual ceiling

Chargeable income = salary + bonus − Earned Income Relief − CPF relief

Take-home pay = salary + bonus − your CPF − income tax

Worked example

A citizen aged 30 earning $6,000 a month pays $14,400 of CPF and $1,712 of income tax for the year, leaving $4,657 a month.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How much CPF is deducted from my salary in 2026?

Singapore citizens and permanent residents from their third year contribute 20% of their monthly wages to CPF if they are 55 or younger, and their employer adds 17%. The rates fall with age, down to 5% and 7.5% above 70. Contributions are charged on ordinary wages up to $8,000 a month from 1 January 2026.

Is income tax deducted from my monthly salary in Singapore?

No. Unlike most countries, Singapore does not withhold income tax from each payslip for most employees. Income earned in 2026 is assessed in 2027 (Year of Assessment 2027), and you pay the tax then, in one go or by instalments. Your monthly salary is credited after CPF only, so set money aside for the tax bill.

Do foreigners pay CPF in Singapore?

No. Foreigners working in Singapore, including Employment Pass and S Pass holders, do not contribute to CPF and their employers don't either. Their take-home pay is their salary less income tax: at the resident rates if they are tax residents, or at the higher of 15% and the resident rates if they are not.

Which tax reliefs does the calculator include?

It includes Earned Income Relief, $1,000 below age 55, $6,000 from 55 to 59 and $8,000 from 60, and CPF relief for your compulsory CPF contributions. Other reliefs such as for a spouse, children, parents or CPF top-ups would lower your tax further. Total reliefs are capped at $80,000 a year.

How is CPF worked out on a bonus?

Bonuses are additional wages. CPF is charged on them at the same rates, but only up to the additional wage ceiling: $102,000 a year less the ordinary wages already subject to CPF. Someone earning $8,000 a month or more has $96,000 of ordinary wages subject to CPF, so only the first $6,000 of a bonus attracts CPF.
